Five UAE jumpers for Arab Team Challenge In Holland

Five show jumpers from the UAE will be taking part in the Arab Team Challenge which is scheduled to take place from July 1 to 5, 2009, at Hoofddorp, in Holland. The event is being held exclusively for member- countries of Group VII.

The Juniors and Young Riders Jumping competition, where the UAE riders are participating, is part of FEI European Jumping Championship for Juniors and Young Riders, which is being held at the same venue.

The UAE riders include Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Maktoum, Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah al Qassimi, Mohammed Abdullah Al Kitbi, Sultan Saif Al Awani and Yousef Hashim Al Bafaaly. They will be showing their prowess on borrowed horses from the host country.

The Oraginising Committee of the 2009- FEI European Jumping Championship had requested the National Federations of FEI Group VII members to enter a Junior Team for the Arab Team Challenge. Each Federation can send one team comprising three jumpers and in case they are unable to do so, they will be allowed to enter one individual rider only.

The purpose of this challenge, according to the organizers, is to enable junior riders from the National Federations involved, to compete within the environment of the official 2009- FEI European Jumping Championship, to be able to become familiar with the level of jumping on the occasion of the European Championships.

The Vooruit Foundation, which is behind the annual Hoofddorp Horse Show that has been held since 1909 at Haarlemmermeer. This year’s show is a special one since they are celebrating their centennial with a 10-day programme, the most important being the European Championships Jumping for Juniors and Young Riders.
