The Boudthib Endurance Village will
play host to three endurance rides on Thursday, January
5, 2006. The rides, organized by the UAE Equestrian
and Racing Federation, will be held at the Village
venue in Al Khatem, Abu Dhabi. The day will feature
an open endurance ride and two federation qualifiers.
Over 50 endurance enthusiasts have
already registered their names to participate in the
120-km, CEI, Three-star Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al
Nahyan International Challenge. The ride will be run
in five loops of 30 km, 30 km, 26 km, 20 km and 14
km respectively. Pre-ride inspection for this ride
will be held on Wedensday, January 4, 2006, between
2.30 and 4.30 pm and the ride is likely to be flagged
off the next day at 6.30 am. There will also be a
Best Conditioned Horse competition.
More than 60 riders are taking part
in the 44-km Federation Qualification Ride which will
be run in two phases of 30 km and 14 km respectively.
The day will also feature an 80-km Federation Qualifier
for which more than 40 riders have confirmed their
participation. The ride will be run in three stages
of 30 km, 30 km and 20 km respectively. Pre-ride inspection
for the qualifiers will also be held on Wednesday
between 3 pm and 5 pm and the rides will begin the
following day at 6.45 am and 7 am respectively.
The Federation organizes Qualifiers
at regular intervals to help riders and horses to
qualify themselves to ride in higher category rides.
Some of the endurance riders for
the Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Nahyan championship
include Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Faisal al Qassimi, Sheikh
Abdullah bin Faisal al Qassimi, Yousef Ahmed al Baloushi,
Jabber Bittar, Sultan Ahmed al Baloushi, Omair Hussain
Abdullah al Baloushi, Hassan bin Ali and several others.
The Boudthib Endurance Village,
which is part of the Emirates Heritage Club, is the
second endurance village in Abu Dhabi and the third
in the UAE. The Emirates Heritage Club is closely
involved in the development of several traditional
and cultural activities and sports in the country,
including endurance riding. The club also provides
vital training facilities for children in the UAE
and the opening of its modern and excellently planned
endurance village is being welcomed by the equestrian
fraternity as an important step in the development
and teaching of endurance riding in the UAE.
Boudthib is located past Al Wathba
on the left side of the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain highway.

From Abu Dhabi- On Al Ain Road at exit for
Zayed Military City, turn left and follow signs.
From Dubai- On Abu Dhabi Road at Al Mafraq
Bridge take exit to Al Ain Road and continue up to
exit for Zayed Military City, turn left and follow
signs.
From Al Ain- On Abu Dhabi Road at Al Khatem
Bridge exit right and follow signs.
