The Four-day event was held under the patronage of Hydra
Properties with the support of the UAE Equestrian & Racing
Federation, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Abu Dhabi Culture &
Heritage Authority, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Abu Dhabi
Hunting & Equestrian Exhibition and the Abu Dhabi Equestrian
Club to promote the bright image of the UAE and the potentials
and qualities of the emirate of Abu Dhabi, with 53 riders in
the fray. |

The tournament was comprised of nine jumps for professional
and amateur riders from Germany, France, Holland, Italy,
Belgium, Austria and Japan. The UAE riders stole the show in
the first two days of the competition. UAE rider Ahmed Amin
aboard Kurtysse won the Per De Werbeagentur competition and
the Per De Hotel Klokinzbitz in the Silver Tour competition.
In the meantime, the UAE riders achieved more glory after the
lady rider Alia Humaid bin Darri finished third, Adel Khamis
was fourth and Majid Sultan Al Awani fifth. Mohammed Al
Kumaiti was also qualified for the World Cup under very
difficult circumstances and tough competition. |

Speaking to newsmen, Sultan Al Mazriuqi, secretary general
of the UAE Equestrian & Racing Federation said he's pleased to
see all that courageous performance from the country's lads.
"I would like to thank the UAE riders for the perfect show
they have presented. I would like, above all, to thank Shaikh
Dr. Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE
Equestrian & Racing Federation, for his great support and
backing. He has always been keen to see our riders making
presence at the international level and performing to our
satisfaction. Taking part in such strong and prestigious
competition will add a lot to the capabilities and potentials
of our riders. We want them to gain more experience through
such international exposure to lay down a strong foundation
for the UAE national team," he said.
The Press conference which was organised after the end of the
tournament was also attended by Lara Sawaya, managing director
of the Tasweeq and representative of the Hydra Properties as
sponsors of the event.
"It's a great pleasure for the Hydra Properties to sponsor the
UAE riders and the various aspects of the equestrian
activities. We will push always forward and give every support
to our sportsmen and institutions," she promised.
The speakers outlined the role of Shaikh Dr. Sultan bin
Khalifa Al Nahyan in promoting and supporting equine sports in
the UAE and the amount of progress that has been achieved so
far as a result of his backing.
Dr. Sultan Al Fahim, CEO of the Hydra Properties reiterated
the commitment of Hydra Properties to enhance their
partnership and continue their support to the youth activities
in the UAE.
"I would like to thank Shaikh Dr. Sultan bin Khalifa Al
Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE Equestrian & Racing Federation for
availing us the opportunity to give our support and
encouragement to the UAE riders. We will always be with them
and it's a great pleasure for us to do so. This part of our
national responsibility to take care of the youngsters and
provide them with all what they require to gain more
experience and develop their talent. We truly appreciate the
role of Shaikh Dr. Sultan who has been behind the great
achievements of the UAE showjumping sport that culminated with
the strong presence in the World Cup and the 2008 Beijing
Olympic Games," he was quoted as saying.
